May15   Round 5 Results

ML3: Another improving performance from our firsts. We have now the speed of the grade and we are making inroads up the ladder. Three great strikes from Macca off Penalty corners gave us a great buffer and with many opportunites to score field goals we are moving confidently into the middle of the season. Most valuable points went to Lindsay, from Glenda and Macca

ML4: Another "W" beside our name with a hard fought win against Manly. We welcomed back Shauna for the game and Bridie and Kristen too. Mel played her first game in ML4 and performed creditably. A top goal by Lou with another hitting the post, she was often the shooting target for our other forwards. Most valuable was Jane, from Jo and Hayley

ML6: A tenacious effort by the 3's on Friday night gave the team a very creditable 1-1 draw with Canterbury.  It was a tough but very even match with Harbourside taking the lead with 12 minutes of the match remaining.  Canterbury replied within 5 minutes to level the score.  Canterbury have a strong team with some young(er) and speedy forwards but the Harbourside defence rose to the occasion and turned them back strongly.  It was probably the best hockey the team has played all year !!  Well done - a mighty effort everyone.  Goalscorer:  Jenny (PC)   MVP:  Birgitta, from Lisa and Mezz

May8   Round 4 Results

The ML3 team had a resounding win against Strikers with goals from Macca, Glenda and Lindsay.

Our team is growing in confidence and working well together. Each week we are getting better with great runs from our strikers good build up in the midfield. Our defence had a clean box with everyone contributing to break down the Strikers attack. Most valuable were Tash, Jane H and Glenda
The ML4 team also had a great win to get our first points of the season. We led 3-0 at half time against Strikers with goals to Jo, Tam and Kat.
The teamwork is steadily improving and our play is getting used to the faster pace of the higher grade.    Most valuable was Sammy with everyone contributing to a very rewarding result.
The ML6 team had a disappointing loss to Briars. After leading 1-0 and controlling the play two late goals were scored against us. There were many what ifs after the game and we will hopefully learn from the experience.   Our goal was scored by Jenny and most valuable points went to Chris, Sophie and Torrie

May1   Round 3 Results

The ML3 team defeated Sydney University 2-1 in a tough encounter.  Our first goal was a shot from Lindsay which hit the post and followed in by Van.  A penalty corner goal by Sydney Uni equalled and a great counter attack well finished by Glenda gave us our first points for the season.  Most valuable points were Macca, Glenda and Shannon.

The ML4 team lost to Glebe 4-1 on Friday night.  3 Penalty corner goals were our downfall.  Our combinations are improving and our first goal of the season was slotted in by Sammy.  The video session after training this week will sort out a few problems and hopefully a win is just around the corner.  Most valuable points were Dubbo and Jo.

ML6: Harbourside 3 drew 0-0 with Wenty 2 at Concord Sunday night.  While the result gave us a valuable 1 point, we had several good opportunities to score and probably should have won. Our defence was again rock solid (Lisa, Birgitta and Jess - great work at the back).  Our midfield supplied the strikers with good ball that led to promising attacks.  Well done everyone - structure was good, support play was outstanding and everyone worked hard (as usual).  Harbourside 3 players are all working well together, the teamwork is fantastic.
MVP was Kristin, from Jenny and Jess.

Apr23   Round 2 Results

The ML3 team fought hard with the result a two nil loss not an indication of the closeness of the match.  Both Wales goals were from fine Penalty corner shots so for the other 68 minutes it was a tough tussle.  Most valuable was Jane B, Shannon, Macca and Glenda with everyone contributing above and beyond.  It is great to watch the never stop attitude of the whole team.

The ML4 team was also defeated by two penalty corner goals, disappointing as we showed great improvement from week 1 and we are getting used each other and the pace and skills of the higher division.  Our general play was impressive and once we find the net we will be a force to be reckoned with.  Most valuable was Jo, Pam and Lilly

ML6: Harbourside 3 gained their first points of the season with a convincing 2-0 win against Strikers at Bankstown.  H/side scored in the first 3 minutes and the last 4 minutes of the match but were really never challenged.  Had our half-chances been converted (and we had a number of these opportunities)  the score would have been even greater.  Our forwards put continual pressure on the strikers defence and our defence was really solid in repelling Strikers attacks.  Ball control was much improved from last week's game and the support play was also better.
Goalscorer was Mel (2)
MVP was Mel, from Chris and Jenny

Sep21   The mighty two's win their grand final
A great goal from a great team finished off a wonderful season for the mighty twos.

After 70 minutes of tight hockey the score was locked at Nil all.  The defence was rock solid defending at least 15 (maybe more, sure felt like it in the dugout) penalty corners while Baulkos defence defended none.

The first 7 and a half minutes of extra time saw the teams drop off 2 members but both defences held, so for the next 7 and a half minutes the teams were reduced to 7.  Another defensive penalty corner saw the ball cleared by Hayley to Tam on the half way,  A great run to the back line and while being challenged by their keeper passed it to the top of the circle where we had 3 players bearing down on the loose ball.  With great poise, control and a fantastic strike by Kristen saw the ball in the back of the net for a perfect end to our season.  Best on the field was the GK Bella followed by everyone else.  What a team.

Look out ML4 here we come!

Sep12   A gallant 3rd place end to the season for Harbourside 3's

Harbourside 3 (ML6)

A gallant H/side 3 went down 1-4 to UNSW in the Preliminary Final.  While it was disappointing to lose we were beaten by a team which outplayed us on the day.  To our credit our players gave their all and never stopped trying.  UNSW were too strong and deserved their win but our heads are high as we finished a very creditable 3rd.

Sep5   Harbourside finals news hot off the press.

hot off the press with more details to follow.........

Harbourside 1 (ML3)

Well it was not meant to be - the one's are now out of the finals after a 1-0 loss to UNSW.

it was a lucky goal for UNSW which put the team behind. We had many chances to score and kept the spectators on the edges of thier seats until the final siren but just could not convert. A fantastic achievement for the team in finishing third on the ladder in their first year in ML3. The team was a blend of new players and winners from last year and deserves to be proud of their results this year.    Bring on 2012!

Harbourside 2 (ML5)

The mighty twos yesterday proved they were worthy minor premiers with a hard fought 1-0 win over Baulkham Hills.  The score came from our favourite penalty corner scored by Lindsay and was enough to ensure we progressed to the Grand Final in a fortnights time.  All 14 members of the team contributed to the win and for the grand final we will be without Lilly who is venturing overseas for a well earned holiday.

Harbourside 3 (ML6)

H/side 3 have stormed in to the Preliminary Final with a resounding 6-2 victory over Revesby.  Two field goals in the first 15 minutes set the pace and with a 5-1 halftime lead H/side 3 never really looked threatened.  It was a really warm day and with only one sub. available players had to dig deep to maintain their pace of play.  Our team was fitter and faster and while 12 very weary players finished the game strongly, such a good win eased the pain.  Our forwards were incredibly dangerous every time we attacked and Revesby were constantly on the back foot .  Jane, in goal for her first SWHL match as GK, made some really valuable saves, especially in the second half when Revesby threatened to claw their way back.  This was a really fantastic team effort and if we can maintain this momentum and belief in ourselves, our match next Sunday against UNSW could see us progress to the GF !!!!!

Aug30   Round 18. The Mighty two's hero's of the club this week.

Harbourside 1 (ML3)

It was a nail biting finish to the season with both Harbourside and Gordon were playing hard to win. Harbourside led the scoring in this game with Nic scoring both times but unfortunately after holding a 2-1 lead for some time and our defence doing a great job fending off many short corners for Gordon, the score eventually equalized.
MVP Julia.

Harbourside 2 (ML5)
Our last match of the season was always going to be tough playing the very youthful Macarthur team.  With there oldest player 19 they really had youth over us.  But! not experience.  We did a lot of running and chasing and although the game was one of our toughest we prevailed with a 2-1 win.  Goals by Betsy (stroke) and Kat  were fantastic and so we finished the rounds with only one loss.  To our delight we heard after the game that the team ahead of us lost and so ( unconfirmed at this stage) we are the Minor Premiers of Div 5.  Most valuable points went to Jane, Bella and Shauna.  Well done team.

Harbourside 3 (ML6)
A dominating performance against Wenty saw H/side 3 win 4th spot for a semi-final position.  After a scoreless first half two quick goals early in the second set up this solid win.  While Wenty scored to come back 1-2, a 3rd goal for H/side ensured the victory.  A late goal by Wenty gave the final 3-2 result but the difference between the teams was far greater than reflected in the scores.  The strikers worked hard to convert chances and with a little luck could have had several more.  The midfield and defence were solid in both cutting down the Wenty attack and setting up good ball for H/side attack.
Goal scorers :  Suz 1,  Sarah 1,  Torrie 1        MVP was Suz from Shannon and Sarah

Aug23   Round 17 and we're still all in the finals hunt

Harbourside 1 (ML3)                                                                                                         A two-all draw versus Ryde on a wet and cold Friday night. Ryde scored first off a penalty short corner but Harbourside equaled almost straight away by Nic. In the second half, Ryde scored first again from field goal shot from the top of the circle but once again Harbourside equalized quickly from a lovely passage of play up the field culminating on a pass from H to Glenda on the left post who popped it in the net.  After the Ryde's first goal from a short corner Harbourside, the Harbourside defence did a great job through the match defending a number of short corners.MVP was a four way tie this week between Juddy, Makka, Rin and Loz.

Harbourside 2 (ML5)
A tough game resulted in a nil all draw with our nearest competitors, Bankstown.  It may have opened the door for a new leader in Div 5, but at this stage it looks anyones premiership.   Most valuable was Bridie, Jane and Betsy

Harbourside 3 (ML6)
A cold, wet, windy Friday night did not stop H/side 3 from a determined 2-1 win against Briars to almost ensure a semi-final spot.  With one round to go there will have to be some miracle results from other teams to force us out.  With Marj still on crutches we were fortunate to again have Bella who played superbly under immense pressure from the Briars attack.
Goalscorers:  Karen 1,  Mel  1      MVP  Bella from Suz and Mezz

Aug15   Harboursides hunt for finals

Wow! All our teams are to be congratulated for their efforts so far.

All teams are in a position where they could make finals and our ML3 and 5 teams could be minor premiers. The last couple of games fro us all will be tough though so lets support each other, have a good training on Thursday night and play our best on the weekend.

Go Harbourside!

Harbourside 1 (ML3)
It was a hard fought game vs UTS with Harbourside coming out on top.
The defence was as strong as ever and all over them like a rash.
Nic put the ball in the back of the net for a 1nil win.
Everyone had a great game.
MVP went to Nic, followed by Rinny then Loz.

Harbourside 2 (ML5)
Another good win for the terrific twos.  Many thanks to Laurel for playing down and Jenny for playing up.  Great start popping in 3 goals early and then coasted for the rest of the game.  Poor Lindsay took a ball in the head and has 7 stitches to repair the wound.  Lindsay also won most valuable so a night to remember for her.  Goals were scored by Marcia (2)  and Tam.

Harbourside 3 (ML6)
H/side 3  welcomed back Carolyn after injury and Liz after army 'games'.  Both had been out for many weeks. Marj is still injured so Bella played and we appreciated having her.  This was a tough game against UNSW, higher than us on the table, but we matched them in every department.  We led 1-0 at halftime and scored again early in the 2nd half to lead 2-0 and have Uni showing a bit of panic.  Our defence was under constant pressure and held them out until 18 mintes to go and then 1 minute to go.  The result, a 2-2 draw, meant we collected a valuable 1 point.  The positive out of the game was the effort put in by all players and the fierce determination everyone showed.  A game all can be proud of. Goalscorers were Shanon and Karen.   MVP was Krys, from Karen and Suz

Jul25   Round 15 Frustration for the ones, success for the mighty twos and tears for Miss Prim.

Harbourside 1 (ML3)

A disapointing loss to Moorebank 0-1. The team missed Nic up front and struggled at times to shut down some fast breaks from the Moorebank strikers. Thanks to Krys and Tam for playing up. Special thanks to Pam for making a last minute dash to the game to help us out.  MVP H.

Harbourside 2 (ML5)
Another good performance from the whole team.  We are finally feeling comfortable passing the ball to each other to get out of trouble and bringing the ball into the circle with purpose.  Great team goals were scored by Betsy, Lindsay and Tam with most valuable points going to Tam, Lindsay and Shauna.

Harbourside 3 (ML6)
H/side 3 has a lovely new mascot made by Torrie's aunt.  She sat in the dugout at Bankstown and bawled her eyes out because H/side 3 went down to Canterbury 1-0.  A really disappointing result as we had had at least 80% territorial advantage, must have had at least 20 corners to their one, and failed to convert any of the many good opportunities we had.  A real riches to rags story after a great win last week - you wouldn't have known it was the same team !!!!!  Thanks to Betsy who filled in at RH for us, and to Tiarna who played in goal.
MVP was Shannon, from Jess and Suz

Jul19   Farewell Nic

Harbourside is sad to say goodbye to Nic who has made a huge contribution to the club during the two years she has played with us.

Last year NIc was the highest goal scorer in the SWHL competition (see the photos page of the website) and this year has continued her success being a key creater of goal scoring opportunities and notching up many goals herself in the process. She has also shared her knowledge and skills with the club in coaching sessions in the earlier part of the seasons.

We wish Nic all the best!

Jul19   Round 14. Harbourside Holds Strong

Harbourside 1 (ML3)

Drew with Strikers 2-2.

A game of mixed emotions. We were glad to draw but unfortunately the last one where we have star striker Nic's playing for us. After a slow and sometimes panicky start two goals were scored by Nic; a fitting farewell gift to the team and a sure way to make sure she is remembered fondly……

MVP Nic followed by Makka who once again executed some awesome tackles in that favorite back left corner of hers.

Thanks to Lilly for filling in from the 2's.

Harbourside 2 (ML5)

We had our best day of the season today with a convincing effort from everyone.  Although the score was only 1 nil (great shot by Shauna) we were the dominant team and certainly benefited from a great training session with Ivan last Thursday night.  Our passing was slick and accurate and most times found the target.  Well done everyone. MVP Tam, Hayley and Kris

Harbourside 3 (ML6)

After losses in the last 2 games it was great to see the forwards dominate over Sutherland 3 with a 7-0 (yes, seven!) win.  While we had hit rock bottom with only 8 'regulars' available (Carolyn injured, Jane injured, Lynsey injured, Marj injured, Liz still playing army games, Sarah and Suz unavailable) we were indebted to our 2 new registered players, Lisa and Tiarna, who helped our cause greatly, and Bella (2's GK) who kept a clean slate at the back.

H/side led 2-0 at halftime.  Midfield gave great service to the strikers and the defence was solid as ever.

The win has enabled the team to hold on to 3rd position and we have only one more match before (hopefully) all our injured are back, and Liz.

Goalscorers were:  Lisa 3, Karen 2, Shannon 1, Tiarna 1.     MVP was Shannon, from Lisa and Torrie

Jul12   Round 13

Harbourside 1 (ML3)

Harbourside 1 defeated Macquarie 5 -2. Nic scored 2 goals and Glenda scored 3. Most valuable player was Kayla. We won, we have high expectations and were very disappointed to have conceded 2 goals. A big thank-you to Betts and Pam who

played for us and filled in nicely.

Harbourside 2 (ML5)

Harbourside 2 beat Strikers 4-0. A good result with some great passages of positive play. Goal scorers were Tam, Kristin, Annie and Lindsay.  Most valuable were Lindsay, Lilly and Kristin.

Harbourside 3 (ML6)

Unfortunately Harbourside 3 had a 2-0 loss to Manly on Sunday 10 July.  With only 11 regulars + an additional registered player (Cranbury - thank you) it was always going to be tough.  Manly were too quick, too skilful and too tall (!!!!) for us.  Manly did not allow us to play our game and while we battled hard (second half was 0-0) we were really outplayed and outskilled.  Defence were constantly under pressure but rallied well to repel the Manly attack.  Our attacking opportunities were few.

We are reaching the bottom - next week we have 9 regulars available, with one from the 2's we have 10 and we hope to have another new registration so that we can take the field with 11.  It's very disappointing after such a promising first half of the season.

MVP Shannon - well deserved.

Jul5   Round 12.

 Harbourside 1 (ML3)

ML3 had a nil all draw against UNSW and everyone played well . Wend won MVP. We were unlucky not to score other results went our way to keep us on top...

A big thanks to the ML5 players who played up to cover for a number of players who were away.

Harbourside 2 (ML5)

We played Wests Rugby today and defeated them 2 - 0 to maintain our position in the top four.  We played well in patches but had difficulty putting the ball in the back of the net till the last 6 minutes when we converted a penalty corner and finished off some fine passing to put the game out of their reach.  Not sure if it was a 2 week lay off or that 5 players had already had a game that made our task more difficult.  Goal scorers were Tam and Marce and most valuable were Tam, Pam and Lilly.

Harbourside 3 (ML6)

Harbourside 3 lost to UTS 4   1-0.  With only 10 players (and that included Jane Brown fron 2's) we knew it would be tough.  UTS had 13 and on such a warm day our players really felt the pinch of having no subs and playing under-strength.  Those 10 worked their butts off and created several opportunities from which we might have scored (again those half-chances went begging).  UTS scored with 6 minutes to go and while it was a disappointing loss those who played can hold their heads up high for the mighty effort they put in.

MVP was Mezz

Jun20   Round 11

Harbourside 1 (ML3)

A great win for ML3, 5 to 1 against the Sydney Uni. The team continue to improve every game. Most valuable player Tash, goals by Glenda, Loz, Nic, Tash and Kayla

Harbourside 2 (ML5)

A very disappointing result on Friday night losing to Baulkham Hills 2 - 1.

6.30pm on a Friday night with a football game on as well saw us start 15 minutes late as the umpire was also caught in traffic.  Who knows how it would have ended if we had played 70 minutes.  Some good passages of play weren't enough to catch the slick opposition.  We would be happy to meet them again in the Grand Final.  A powerful PC strike from Annie was our only goal.  Most valuable was Bridie , Jane and Kat.  Kat has now played in ML5 4 times and becomes a valuable permanent addition to the team.

Harbourside 3 (Ml6)

A dominating display by Harbourside 3 led to a 5-1 win against Revesby (we had our 5 before we let them have one).  Two main highlights: a hat-trick of goals to Karen and a Penalty Stroke saved by Marj.  The forward's work rate was exceptionally high (inspired by Ivan at training?) and it was great to have Suz back.  Midfielders always had control and gave great ball to set up our attacks.  We knew Revesby were tough but we were tougher and really did give them a hockey lesson !!!

MVP  Karen    Goal-scorers  Karen 3, Tori 1, Sarah 1

Jun6   Round 10: A tougher round for Harbourside

Harbourside 1 (ML3)

ML3 played Gordon North Shore- a very lacklustre game resulting in a 2 all draw. Glenda deserved MVP. Scorers were Genda and Nic.

If we let the ball go early we may have had a few more goals. This game highlighted we have much work to do.

Harbourside 2 (ML5)

The mighty two's played Macarthur and although our plan was to score early and score often we only managed the winning goal 3 minutes from the end.

We led early and against the run of play Marcarthur equalised.  Lots of opportunities were created but in one of those games it became increasingly frustrating trying to get the ball in the net.  In the most valuable points 3 points went to Pam Forbes, 2 points to Anne McCraith and 1 point to Kristin Stringfellow.  Both goals were scored by Marcia Scally.

Harbourside 3 (ML6)

Harbourside 3  drew with Went 2   1-1.   Goalscorer for H/S was Karen.   MVP was Sarah , then Jess and Tori

This was a fairly even game with both teams having chances to clinch the win..  Wenty scored first but a corner in the last minute of the 1st half to H/Side saw a shot from Sarah rebound off the post and then put in the net by Karen. We missed Krys (injured last week), Carolyn (injured at Indoor and out now for 5 weeks minimum) and Suz.  Kat played with us and not the 2's so that we could have 2 subs - thanks Kat.  Everyone, both attack and defence, worked hard and the 1 point earned maintains our position in 3rd spot

May30   Round 9: three wins and a successful return from injury

Harbourside 1 (ML3)

ML3 were lucky to come a way with a win against WDs (1- nil). A nice goal from Nic, with H  getting a well rewarded MVP. Games like these are good to help us reflect and see what we need to do better.

Harbourside 2 (ML5)

The Twos maintained their position on the ladder with a hard fought 1-0 win.  A great goal by Betsy early on was enough to give the team the points.  It was a fairly even contest with the Penalty corner defence doing a great job keeping the ball out with 5 corners in the last 5 minutes.  Good passing gave the team lots of opportunities and while we continue to improve, we can still get better.  Most valuable was our most versatile player, Shauna who has played in every line except GK.  As the high defender she set up many good passages of play but was also there when Glebes attacking raids seemed dangerous.  2 points went to the GK, Bella and 1 point to Betsy

Harbourside 3 (ML6)

H/Side 3   defeated Baulkham Hills 4    4-0.    Goalscorers were Lynsey, Karen, Sarah , Mel .   MVP was Karen

Solid defence ensured Baulkham Hills had limited opportunities to attack our goal.  This was Lynsey's first goal of the season, just reward for her great efforts at training and in matches.  Karen returned after 3 weeks out with an injured shoulder and played like a woman possessed (she has missed it !!!).  Another really good team effort with a lot of positive, unselfish play. Versality in positions is emerging and the willingness of players to take on positions they're unaccumstomed to reflects the great spirit in the team.  Mezz and Jane are becoming our most versatile - Mezz has played inner, half, striker and Jane has played back, half, striker  and we're only halfway through the season !

The low point of the game came in the last minute when Krys fell and injured her right arm.  She left the ground with her arm in a sling and on the way to get it checked out.

May24   Round 8: top teams topple to Harbourside

Wow. What a week for Harbourside!!!!

Our ones and twos both beat the teams on the top of their ladders with the ones moving into first place as a result. The threes toughed it out to maintain a third place in thier competition.

So, we're almost half way through the season and all teams are in the top four which is a testament to the players and coaches. Congratulations for this awesome effort Harbourside.

results for the individual games are below.

Harbourside 1 (ML3)

ML3 top of the table clash saw us beat ryde convincingly 3 nil... 2. Goals from Van...finally...and 1 from Nic. Julia received a well deserved MVP, Wend took charge of the circle made some truely speci saves and once again our defence took everything their attack could throw at us... neutralised and quickly put us on the attack... a great game was had by all....

Harbourside 2 (ML5)

Great game this week for the 2's

With the top of the table clash vs Bankstown, extra training last Thursday with a video replay of a recent game showed the 2's how to improve the teams effort.  With our best effort for the  first 20 minutes we were able to set the scene for a great game.   Discipline with marking by the defence and being available off the ball allowed our forwards plenty of opportunites in the circle.  3 great penalty corner goals gave the team a convincing win 3 - 1.  Most valuable was Betsy, closely followed by Kristin, Pam and Hayley.  A great team game by a great team!.

Harbourside 3 (ML6)

H/side 3 drew Briars 4  1-1.  MVP  Jane B.  Goal-scorer Shannon.

Shannon converted a penalty corner in the first 2 minutes For H/side 3 to lead 1-0, a lead held until the last 15 minutes of the game when a defensive lapse allowed Briars to equalise.  We had several opportunities to score more goals but were unable to convert our chances.  The game was fairly even and both teams would be disappointed with their failure to convert attacking moves into goals.  The draw has kept H/side 3 in 3rd position but as all games in this grade are tough we know we have to continue to press hard in all matches to maintain a top 4 position.

May17   Round 7: No goals conceeded in some tough, well fought games

Harbourside 1 (ML3)

ML3 had a good win to defeat UTS 3 nil. Goals were scored by Nic (2) and Glenda (1). MVP as voted by her team mates was Georgi.

The team conceded only one corner - a big credit to what we believe to be is the "best defence" in this division...The team welcomes back the very versatile VB to add some strength in both def. and attack. The team is playing brilliantly as a unit.

Our credo... win as if you were used to it and lose as if you enjoy it for a change...

team trivia: Mother daughter rivalry still strong as Glenda evens the score with a goal this week

Harbourside 2 (ML5)

Harbourside 2 drew Nil all with UTS3.  Most valuable players were Jane Brown, Kat Whitworth and Kristen Springfellow.

Harbourside had the best of the game but were unable to put the ball in the back of the net.  We now look forward to next weeks top of the table clash and hope to keep improving our skills.

Harbourside 3 (ML6)

Harbourside 3 drew with UNSW 4   0-0.  MVP was Kat Whitworth.

While both teams had chances to score, this was a tight and even contest.  UNSW are undefeated and this was a very good result for the team with 3 of our strikers unavailable for this match.  Disciplined play by Harbourside seemed to frustrate the opposition.  There was a lot of positive talk and encouragement within the team on the field and this helped maintain a structure that matched UNSW in every department.

May9   Round six: the wins keep on coming

Harbourside 1 (ML3) no game

Harbourside 2 (ML5)

Yesterdays game for the ML5 team was another great win to maintain our position in the top two.  We defeated Ryde Hunters Hill 3 - 0.  A tough game, with our perserverance coming through.  We led 1 -0 at half time with a scramble in the circle and Tam getting the final touch.  Two great penalty corner goals in the second half by Kristen and Lily gave us a strong win.  Most valuable was Jane Brown, Marcia Scally and Kristen Springfellow, with good showings from everyone else.

Team trivia: the team already has more points on the board than they did at the end of last season-GO HARBOURSIDE!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Harbourside 3 (ML6)

A penalty stroke after the final bell was converted by Jenny Evans to give H/Side 3 the match 2-1 against Canterbury.  Tori put in the first goal after 10 minutes of the game but Canterbury levelled with a goal from a penalty corner soon after.  H/Side made many penetrating attacks with some good team passing but were unable to finish off.  Canterbury basically played a spoiling game with BIG hits that unnerved (scared) even the most experienced of our players.  Canterbury have managed draws with 3 higher placed teams so far this season so the win was a really good one.  MVP was Kat Whitworth.

Team trivia: mother daughter rivalry in the club heats up as Tori now has a total of 4 goals to her mum's (Glenda) 3.

Apr11   Wins all round for Harbourside in Round 3 of the SWHL comp.

Harbourside 1 (ML3)

Defeated Uni NSW 2-0 . Goal scorer Nic. Players player award to Makka.

The team welcomes back Julia. Fitness continues to improve, so too does decision making.

Harbourside 2 (ML5)

defeated West Rugby 3-0. Field goals by Betsy and Kristen and a PC conversion by Lindsay showed the team has the potential to give the competition a shake. best on gound Lily.

Overall another good win for the two's. Ugly but good. The team didn't bring thier A game but it is good to know they can craft out a solid game to stay near the top of the table.

Captain for the year is Betsy with Annie and Shauna co vice captains.

Harbourside 3 (ML6)

Defeated UTS 4, 1-0. Goal scored by Keisha. Most valuable player a three way tie for Carolyn, Shannon and Suzanne.

The first attcking corner of the game yielded a good trap and hard shot from Keisha to give the 1-0 lead. it was a fairly even contest although harboursdie put the UTS keeper under a lot of poressure and with a little more luck could have scored a couple more. A really good team effort. The defence stood up well to the UTS attacks.

Captain Liz, Vice captain Shanon.

Apr5   More great results for harbourside and the North Sydney Blues

Harbourside 1 (ML3)

Drew with Sydney Uni 1-1. Goal scored by Glenda and most valuable player Rinny.

This was a well earned draw. After being down 1 nil, for most of the game the team stuck to the game plan and chipped away with a great goal from Glenda and some great saves on the line form the backs to even the game-the mark of a good team. The team shows much improvement every game....tenacity our word for the week.

Harbourside 2 (ML5)

Drew 1-1. Goal scorer Tam, best and fairest Bella.

A great second half and unlucky not to get a win in the end. Tams goal was a great touch from a hit outside the cirlce-very specci! Lots of chances in the second half.

Harbourside 3(ML6)

Drew 2-2 with Reevsby. Both goals scored by kat who also won most valuable player.

It was a tough game but the team lifted the play causing a pretty good result in the end. Thanks to Glenda and Loz for being subs.

North Sydney Blues (grass)

Defeated shadows 2-1 in their first game of the season with Jenny and Nic scoring a goal each.

A very pleasing result for a team with three new players: Judy, Michelle and Chloe who fitted in well and made great contributions.
